Steve Rose has accepted the role of Southern Region Ministerial Director for the Georgia-Cumberland Conference. For the past five and a half years he has served as the pastor for the Albany, Ga., Seventh-day Adventist Church.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to serve with pastors—sharing ideas across lines from one pastor to another, good communication, new challenges, and working directly with pastors and their families,” says Rose.

The Southern Region Ministerial Director position became available when previous director Harold Cunningham became the conference vice president for pastoral ministries and evangelism.

“It’s a challenge following in the footsteps of Harold because he has been so connected with the pastors and the people of South Georgia,” says Rose. “But it’s marvelous to come in on a foundation that’s already well-laid. I want to just be able to continue that and see if there are areas that we might expand.”

“In South Georgia the pastors are spread out,” shares Rose. “I want to set up better contact between pastors—interaction, getting to know one another better—so together we can lift up Jesus throughout South Georgia. There are a lot of areas in South Georgia where there are no Seventh-day Adventist Churches and I’d love to see us reaching out into those areas.”

Rose says he enjoys landscaping and fixing things around the house sharing that at when he lived in Kentucky, he and his wife, Doreen, designed their house and he did all the plumbing and electrical work for it. He also enjoys hiking and the outdoors.

Steve and Doreen, who is a nurse, have been married for 35 years. They have a granddaughter who will be one year old in January, a daughter and son-in-law in Nashville, Tenn., and a son in West Yellowstone, Mont. They also have three dogs and a cat.
