CHATTANOOGA, TN—“I always still after a year and a half have
that nervous feeling,” shared Louise Eirich, a member of the Chattanooga First
Church in Tennessee, as she told about giving Bible studies at people’s homes.
But, she also shared how it has strengthened her own faith as well, saying, “My
full dependence is in Him. When I’m really trusting in Him, God gives me that
perfect peace and that’s exciting.”
People from the Chattanooga area shared their testimonies
through stories and through songs during the Lay Evangelism Rally held at the Chattanooga First Church Jan. 9.
“We do these type of programs to inspire and motivate laymen
for witnessing,” says E.W. Dempsey, Georgia-Cumberland Conference Lay
Evangelism director, who coordinated the event. “The sermon this morning was on
the day of Pentacost and the fact that the Holy Spirit was sent for witnessing.
Then we used music for inspiration and personal testimonies to show how God
works in different ways—testimonies about how people have been led to become a
Christian or a Seventh-day Adventist and the fact that there are different ways
for this to happen. But, it’s not just entertainment; it’s designed to
challenge people to use the gifts God gives them to witness.”
