Adventist Community Services/Disaster Response Training

Here are the current training modules for ACS/DR:

Introduction to Disaster Preparedness
This is the course designed for everyone in the church. It covers a brief description of what the "official" mission of Adventist Community Services / Disaster Response is all about, but zeros in on what each individual should do to prepare himself, his family and his church to respond to a disaster in his town, what to do to help the church recover, and from there, to help the church realize its duty to help it's neighbors.

This course lasts between 3-4 hours and is designed to be taught on a Sabbath afternoon.

Donations Operations (DONOPS)
The purpose of this course is to give the participants basic training in donated goods operations, which is the major function of ACS/DR. Those who take this entire course are elegible to get a picture ID.

This course is an all-day course (8 hours)

Warehouse Management
This one-day course is a specialized hands-on training for potential warehouse managers that teaches how to select an appropriate building, lay out warehouse floor plans, set up the warehouse and the various functions required to manage the operations.

This course is an all-day, 6-8 hour course.

Forklift Safety Certification
In this module, instruction will be given on why forklift safety procedures are necessary and what happens when forklift operators become distracted. Other topics discussed include preoperation, operation, load handling, fuel and battery maintenance and general safety rules for specialized units.

This is a 6-hour course

Overview of ACS Disaster Response Operations
This is a new course, covering many of the same things found in the DONOPS course, but designed for those individuals not actually responding (such as pastors, teachers, administrators, etc), so that they will understand what ACS/DR is all about.

This is a 6-8 hour course
