The Religious Liberty department of the Georgia-Cumberland Conference exists to assist church members who are having religious accommodation issues. This includes supervisors requiring individuals to work during the Sabbath hours, Sabbath testing for professional and other requirements or other issues that would threaten an individual’s liberty of conscience to worship their God in accordance with their religious beliefs.

The Religious Liberty department is primarily here to be a resource to help individuals find solutions to their specific religious liberty concerns.  This often includes referral to the Southern Union, which has two individuals, Amireh Al-Haddad and Kevin James, who have the information, experience and training to talk with employers about our nation’s laws concerning our rights and religious liberty. It also helps with the religious liberty special offering appeal, which is featured in February and March of each year. This sponsors Liberty Magazine to individuals who are the thought leaders in their communities, including judges, attorneys and other civic responsible individuals. Anytime an individual has questions or problems concerning their religious freedom, they should contact the Georgia-Cumberland Conference Religious Liberty director so he can direct them where they can receive the information and help that they are looking for.
