A MESSAGE FROM CARLOS SALAZAR, TREASURER OF THE SOUTHERN UNION REVOLVING FUND:
"The Southern Union Revolving Fund Board met on November 30, 2011 and voted to change interest rates from 2.0% to 1.25% and from 4.5% to 3.25% for investments and loans, respectively. The new rates become effective February 1, 2012.
The rates are the lowest since SURF inception date in 1979, yet we are glad to report to you that in spite of the reduction, SURF continues to provide funds to local churches and schools in realizing their projects, and affords to pay our investors higher than our benchmarks. We thank you for your continued support and for partnering with SURF in this unique ministry."
PURPOSE OF SURF
The purpose and goal of SURF is to provide low cost loans to churches and institutions in the Southern Union, as well as to provide a reasonable rate of return to investors who are willing to invest long-term to fund church growth in the Southern Union. SURF accounts are 90-day demand notes. This means that withdrawals from the fund could take up to 90 days to be fulfilled. However, most requests for withdrawals are handled within the same week the request is made.
If you would like to open an account, please click on the "SURF Application" link above, print the application, fill it out and sign and mail to the Georgia-Cumberland Association at PO Box 12000, Calhoun, GA 30703. Please include your personal check, cashiers check or money order made payable to "Southern Union Revolving Fund" or "SURF." The minimum initial investment is $1,000. A balance of $1,000 must be maintained in order for the account to remain open. Interest will begin accruing on the day the check and all paperwork are received by the Southern Union.
