Fund in Memory of Bethany Grows
PDF Print E-mail

Cohutta Springs Youth Camp staff, campers, and visitors contributed more than $1400 dollars on Sabbath, July 15, 2006 to a fund in memory of Bethany Kacak.

The Kacak family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a fund to help send campers to Cohutta Springs Youth Camp’s Wakeboarding Camp or to a fund to help students attend Georgia-Cumberland Academy.

Currently, Cohutta has raised $1546.00 for Bethany’s Wakeboarding Fund and Camp Director Rob Lang says he expects money to continue to come in as others have called and said they would like to make a contribution.

Lang says it is hard to describe the heaviness hanging over the camp and staff last week following Bethany’s death. He says the sorrow for the Kacaks was immense but says the turning point for the staff, who have given themselves to outdoor ministries, came on Sabbath morning when they learned the family was requesting funds be donated to help other campers like Bethany attend wakeboarding camp.

“My staff and I were deeply moved by their decision to start the Bethany Wakeboarding endowment,” says Lang.  “The Kacak's appreciation of what this activity means to hundreds of young people at Cohutta Springs Youth Camp each summer, and the spiritual impact that parallels it is beyond encouraging and will allow this ministry to continue and flourish.”

If you would like to contribute to either fund, donations may be sent to:  Georgia-Cumberland Conference, P.O. Box 12000, Calhoun, Ga. 30703.  In the memo section of the check please specify either “Bethany Wakeboarding” or “Bethany GCA.”
